Shane Huygens

Founder & Athletic Director

     A native of Iowa, coach huygens grew up in a sports family and played multiple sports in HS.  He graduated from Briar cliff university in 1994.

     Coach Huygens began his love for coaching from his mother and began his coaching career while in high school coaching youth sports in his hometown.  While at BCU, Shane began coaching high school basketball at Sergeant bluff-Luton.  He served as the Freshman and Junior Varsity coach as well as the assistant varsity coach.  Shane then moved to the poconos in Pennsylvania for a year where he worked at the pocono invitational basketball summer camp.  He then moved to orlando florida and dived into his love of coaching.  Coach Huygens started out as an assistant at Valencia community college underneath former georgetown star, Horance Broadnax.  He worked 3 years with coach Broadnax and his final year with Stanley Cromartie.  From Valencia he moved to Seminole community College with his former boss, Cromartie.  Shane then began his HS career in Florida and coached at Dr. phillips and then Edgewater.  While in HS he helped his teams win conference, district, regional, and state Championships.  Shane then began his travel club, the "orlando basketball club".  While running the OBC he helped lead his 17U team to two top ten finishes in AAu Nationals.

     Coach Huygens is currently serving his 17th year as an elementary Physical education teacher at Lancaster elementary.  He brings a wealth of basketball knowledge and connections to 4A sports academy.


Perry Bromwell

Coach Post-Grad

      IN his first year at 4A Sports Academy, 2018-19, Coach Bromwell led the Athletics to an overall record of 24-9.  From that team Coach B helped to place seven players in the college ranks of basketball.  After his first year Coach B moved on to coach in china but will be back to lead the athletics in 2020   

     A native of NYC, raised on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Boston, Massachusetts.  Coach Bromwell has been voted into three different Hall of Fames; Boston Amateur Athletic Club, (B.A.B.C.), Avon Old Farms Prep School (Connecticut), and the University of Pennsylvania. 

     Coach B-Well began his coaching career in 1993-94 as a player/assistant coach for the University of Nottingham Cobras located in the UK.  after acting as player/assistant coach, he took over the spot as head coach in the 1994-95 season and helped let the team to the British university Elite 8.  From 1995-98 he was the head coach for first division pro team in norway and led the club to the playoffs three consecutive years.  in 1998-99 Coach Bromwell returned to the Usa as an assistant coach at ursinus college.  during the 1999-2000 season he was the top assistant coach at frostburg state university.  Coach bromwell relocated to central florida in 2000 and has has assistant coaching stints with oak ridge high school.  he moved back to be an assistant at his almer mater, UPEnn during the 2007-08 season.  Loving the florida weather Coach bromwell made the trip back south and was most recently with the travel club, team fierce.

     Bromwell has coached on all three levels of basketball that began in 1994 through the 2000's; in high school at Oak Ridge, in college at Ursinus College, his alma mater UPenn, and internationally as a Head Coach in England; the Univesity of Nottingham and professionally in the U.K. and Norway

     He uniquely combines a brand of wellness and life coaching with basketball coaching, and directs an international non-profit, 4C.A.S.T.I.N.G.;  a Collaborative Assistance of Student-athlete Transitions in Nations Globally.

JOhn Coffino

Coach Post-Graduate

      Coach coffino is entering his 1st year at 4a sports academy.  Born and raised in the bronx, basketball was always part of his life. 

     Coffino, a graduate of St. Peter's College in Jersey City, began his coaching career at Westchester Community College (1992–97) in Valhalla, New York where he guided the Viking's to the National Junior College Athletic Association DI Tourney in 1993.  Coffino worked nine years as a Division I assistant coach at Iona College (1997–99), Niagara University (1999–2002) and at St. Peter's College(2002–2006). Each program grew with his assistance; all three MAAC schools advanced to MAAC Championship games and the St. Peter's team went from last place in the conference to the MAAC Championship game after Coffino joined SPC's coaching staff.

     AFter Coaching college basketball, coach coffino decided to try his hand at the professional game.  He has coached in the NBAdL with the Albuquerque Thunderbirds and the Albany Legends.

     The international game came calling after that and Coach Coffino answered.  Coffino coached at Dankind Academy in Nairobi from August 2013 to August 2014 where his team won the NBA championship, before leaving for the UK and Cheshire Phoenix.  In June 2014, Coffino was appointed as the head coach of British Basketball League team, Cheshire Phoenix, Coffino was awarded the Molten BBL Coach of the Month award for December 2014 after having led the Phoenix on an eight-game winning streak during the month.  Coffino is the best coach Cheshire have had in the last decade.

     In the Summer of 2015, Coffino was appointed as the head coach of BC Sukhumi of the Georgian Superliga. After already coaching at the 2015 edition of the Scorers 1st Showcase Coffino returned there in the 2016 edition of the event and served as the Head-Coach for Team E in July. From 1 July 2017 – August 2017 Coffino was a head coach in Europrobasketball Academy. The same year, November 2015, Coffino was offered the position of director of player development and a head coach, Boys Basketball Program in QSI Tbilisi. High School Boys basketball team coached by Coffino won 1st place in Basketball Classics Tournament in Feb 2015, 2016, 2017,2018 hosted by QSI Tbilisi.

     From September 2017 Coach Coffino is a Supervisor of Basketball Coaches, Zaza Pachulia Basketball Academy in Tbilisi, Georgia. From May 2018- December 2018 Coffino was the head basketball coach for the men's senior national team for the Republic of the Maldives.

     "Coach G" - is the Co-Founder and Co-Owner of TNT Elite Hoops, LLC., where he provides elite level basketball training and specializes in individual player development. Since 2006, he has been a vital part of basketball training throughout Central Florida. He has been involved with players competing at a local, state-wide, national and international level. His passion and dedication to his players and their development are proven each day. His abilities to enhance a players game comes from his understanding of each individual and working with their uniqueness. It is his personal goal to be an example for each player and to instill in them what it takes to be successful on and off the court.

Nick Trapp

     "Coach Nick" - is the Co-Founder and Co-Owner of TNT Elite Hoops, LLC., where he provides elite level basketball training and specializes in individual player development. Since 2010, Coach Nick has demonstrated his value to the game of basketball through his established training methods. He strives to make each moment count on the court with his players, as well as always leaving them with a focus or goal to improve. His strong love for what he does is shown daily through his commitment to players becoming successful both on and off the court. 


Ed Custodio


     A native of The Bronx, N.Y., Custodio last coached at University of Texas El-Paso underneath Head Coach Doc Sadler, previously he was an assistant coach at St. Francis College (1998-02) and Long Island University (2002-03). He was involved in all facets of the basketball operation including on the floor coaching, practice planning, recruiting, academic monitoring, scouting reports and various administrative duties.

     Custodio worked under head coach Ron Ganulin at St. Francis College. Ganulin was an assistant at UNLV during the 1989-90 season, when the Runnin' Rebels won the national title. Custodio was also the Director of Intramural Sports Programs during his stint at St. Francis College.

     He has coached at numerous university basketball camps including North Carolina, Syracuse, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, N.C. State, Villanova, Seton Hall, Manhattan, Cleveland State and Iona. Custodio has also assisted with the Nike Championship Basketball Clinic, as well as the Five Star and ABCD Adidas camps.

     He was an assistant coach for the Long Island Panthers AAU team during the summer of 1997 and 1998. Among the players he coached on the tour were former Maryland standout Drew Nickolas, former Connecticut star Tony Robertson and Rodney White.

     Custodio earned his bachelor of arts degree in Psychology from St. Francis College in 1998. He played college basketball at S.U.N.Y. Farmingdale Technology (1991-92) and Wentworth Military Academy (1992-93).

     He was an All-Division, All-City and New York Catholic Association Senior All-Star at Monsignor Scanlan High School in The Bronx.
